Phuket Governor – Khun Maitree Intusut and Provincial Waterworks Authority Deputy Governor (Operation 5) – Khun Somkiat Priyagagul recently attended the opening ceremony of the Phuket Waterworks Lab Cluster (PWA) which will be used to monitor and control the quality of Phuket’s water to ensure that it meets the required benchmarks. The Management team and staff of the PWA, heads of government agencies, representatives from local government organizations, representatives from the academic community and guests were also in attendance at the opening.
During her opening speech, Khun Somkiat said “At present, the Water Authority has a lab to support the analysis and control of water quality at all 10 district headquarters and regional waterworks which supply water, these are used to produce quality criteria standards. However, the Phuket Lab Cluster was established to increase access to the PWA to water quality standards for residents and visitors to Phuket. The opening of the lab will improve the overall operation of the island’s water supply using an accredited testing laboratory which will run in accordance with ISO / IEC 17025. It will analyze the quality of the water and regulate the use of chemicals when producing water. The facility will be equipped with scientists with specialized skills who will evaluation and co-operate in resolving problems with the water quality with the water quality agencies.”
