Amari enters Sri Lanka with the opening of a new beachfront resort in Galle

Bangkok, Thailand. 19 July 2017 – ONYX Hospitality Group, one of Asia’s leading hotel management companies, has launched a brand-new Amari property in Sri Lanka’s historic southwest coastal city of Galle. The 172-room Amari Galle, located a short distance from the UNESCO World Heritage Galle Fort, is ONYX Hospitality Group’s third hotel in Sri Lanka. ONYX Hospitality Group Enters Next Phase of Regional Growth

Previously the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of ONYX, Mr Martell succeeds Peter Henley who will retire after successfully leading the company’s multi-brand and pan-regional expansion as Chief Executive Officer over a period of nine years.

Mr Martell will build on the achievements created by Mr Henley whilst further enhancing the foundations to ensure the company’s ongoing success as it enters the next phase of regional growth. With a career spanning more than 25 years, Mr Martell boasts a wealth of hospitality experience from management and operational functions across a number of roles held in various markets including China, Japan, Australia, Europe and India. Prior to joining ONYX Hospitality Group as Chief Operating Officer in 2014, Mr Martell spent 13 years at InterContinental Hotels Group, where he held senior leadership roles in Australia, China and Japan, before being appointed IHG’s Vice President of Operations for Southwest Asia based in India.
