Phuket, 14 August 2018 – ONYX Hospitality Group executives led by Italthai Group Chief Executive Officer Yuthachai Charanachitta (centre in photo), witness the topping off of OZO Phuket in Thailand. Currently under development at a prime location a short walk from the Kata beachfront on the island’s western shore, the hotel will offer 255 guest rooms and key signatures which deliver the midscale OZO brand’s hallmarks of sleep, connectivity and exploration.

Scheduled to open in 2019, the hotel will offer guest rooms specifically designed for enhanced sleep, smart connectivity of personal devices in rooms and public areas and curated destination tips by team members who know the locality well. The hotel will also feature OZO’s signature EAT all-day dining restaurant best known for energizing breakfasts, the EAT2Go grab-and-go deli, TONE fitness centre and TALK meeting rooms. A unique highlight of OZO Phuket is its two separate pools – an activity pool designed for kids adjacent to a free-form main pool.

OZO is currently available in Hong Kong, Koh Samui, Colombo and Kandy, with new hotels being developed in Hoi An, Pattaya, Johor and Penang.

Worakan Singha – Executive Sous Chef at Phuket Marriott Resort and Spa, Nai Yang Beach

Phuket, Thailand, 8 August 2018 – Phuket Marriott Resort and Spa, Nai Yang Beach has appointed Worakant Singha as its new Executive Sous Chef.

Chef Bon, as he is better known, is a culinary leader with more than 12 years of experience in the food & beverage industry in Thailand. He is also familiar with high standards of Marriott International, having most recently served as Head chef at JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa, where he assisted with the management of 11 F&B outlets.

“It is an honor to become a part of the highly regarded F&B family at Phuket Marriott Resort and Spa, Nai Yang Beach,” commented Chef Bon. “I look forward to bringing my passion and ideas to the team here, and to creating great gastronomic experiences for our guests, in line with the Thai and family traditions for which our resort is known.”

A Thai national originally from Ubon ratchathani province, Chef Bon is an innovative and creative chef who likes to push culinary boundaries. In the role of Executive Sous Chef, he will work closely with the resort’s Executive Chef, Bastian Ballweg, to oversee the four F&B outlets at Phuket Marriott Resort and Spa, Nai Yang Beach: The Andaman Kitchen, Big Fish Restaurant, Big Fish Bar and The Lounge.

He will also have the significant task of overseeing the catering for all meeting and banqueting functions, including weddings, plus kitchen staff recruitment and training.

ONYX Hospitality Group and SP Setia Announce Duo Hotel Partnership in Malaysia

Bangkok, 31 July 2018 – ONYX Hospitality Group, one of the region’s leading hotel management companies, has signed agreements with SP Setia Berhad, Malaysia’s leading property developer, to launch two new Amari hotels in Kuala Lumpur and Penang.

The 252-room Amari Kuala Lumpur (top), part of SP Setia’s KL Eco City mixed-use landmark development, is scheduled to open in early 2021.

Amari Kuala Lumpur will be developed as part of KL Eco City in the capital’s Mid Valley district, whilst Amari Penang will offer direct connectivity to the Setia SPICE Convention Centre. Amari Penang is scheduled to open in late 2020, with Amari Kuala Lumpur opening in early 2021.

Situated within the KL Eco City mixed-use landmark development, the 252-room Amari Kuala Lumpur will enjoy direct access to corporate office buildings, residential towers, a retail mall and integrated rail hub with inter-city and inter-state rail connections. Following completion, the 25-acre KL Eco City, master-planned by Los Angeles based architectural and urban design firm The Jerde Partnership, is also anticipated to be Malaysia’s first integrated mixed-use green development.

Meanwhile, Amari Penang will offer 453 rooms in a tower connected to Setia SPICE, the world’s first hybrid solar powered convention centre. The complex also incorporates a 10,000-seat events arena, aquatic and sports centre, and a lifestyle and retail village.
