After recently holding a council meeting for the local Patong Municipality, Patong City Mayor – Khun Chalermluck Kebsap announced that a request for a budget of approximately 200 million baht has now been put forward to start on work which will see all electric cables placed underground on Thaweewong Road in Patong, a distance of around 3 km. Although still in the planning stages, it is estimated that the works will take a period of 6 month to complete. It is now to be decided when the works will actually commence. The municipality has talked with the Provincial Electricity Authority who advised that there should not be a problem with carrying out the work during high season. However, Khun Chalermluck also advised that the 200M THB budget does not include landscaping work that will be required after the work is complete but this will have to be budgeted for next year.
Khun Chalermluck also said that in the near future there will also be a project that will see all cables placed underground in Soi Bangla and Rat-Uthit 200 Pee Road. However, Thaweewong Road will be the first road due to it being a key economic area.
