Tourists can now extend stays for further 30 days

Tourists can now extend stays for further 30 daysAfter much confusion amongst tourists regarding the extending of tourist visas, a new regulation was officially announced yesterday by the Thai Immigration Bureau that allows tourists visiting Thailand nder the 30-day visa exemption to extend their stay in the country by another 30 days, commencing from today, August 29th 2014.

This will allow tourists from 49 countries to extend their stay for another 30 days – instead of the former seven days, meaning they will be allowed a stay of 60 days in total. The 30 day extension will also apply to those tourists visiting the kingdom on a 30 day tourist visa, extending their stay to 90 days.

Tourists wishing to extend their stay can apply for their extensions at any immigration office in Thailand at a cost of 1,900 baht.
It is hoped that this move will now provide those tourists wishing to extend their stay a chance to do so, thus boosting tourism.
