High above the dazzling Andaman Sea is the island’s latest gastronomic hotspot, The Meka. Set in The Naka – one of Phuket’s newest design hotels, you’re guaranteed dazzling views from this location.
The Meka takes up the topmost floor of the resort’s ‘facilities box’ located at the west end of this exclusive spot. You‘ll be stunned by the unobstructed panorama The Maka provides and you’ll certainly be enticed to take a table by the metre-high Perspex barrier to make the most of the fabulous views. Take your time and let the tropical sea breezes embrace you.
Naturally, there’s a great range of drinks to be enjoyed at The Meka. Grab a blue kamikaze or an ice-cold beer or even a vitamin-packed and refreshing smoothie.
Skillfully led by Chef Mark Web, The Meka serves a variety of international dishes and selections of Thai and European fusion. A wide range of a-la-carte dishes start from 180-1,400 THB.
You may want to kick start your meal with sweet mango and an avocado tower along with mixed greens and prawns in a Thai marinade. The dish is simply delicious. The refreshing taste of tropical mango from the east and avocado from the west are perfectly matched; an excellent choice to make for an appetizer.
Now try the laab tuna and smoked salmon tartare with avocado, mixed greens, sesame tuile, cucumber and northern Thai-style dressing. Traditional salmon tartare is presented in the Thai style of laab (diced) in a northeastern Thailand twist. This dish is certainly an eye opener and makes for a refreshing change with new tastes and textures to savour.
Another highly recommended dish you shouldn’t miss at The Meka is its khao soi curry. The taste of the north with Burmese influences comes with Udon noodles and rock lobster tempura. The curry and coconut flavoured soup has an appealing presentation and a unique aroma that lends a depth of flavours that is irresistible.
The Meka is quite simply a cool place to hang out whether you’re dining there or not and its setting, decor and even background music all whisper one word: ‘Class’. Try out its exotic drinks list – there are six standard cocktails to choose from with a great choice of worldwide wines and liquors. Soak up the relaxing atmosphere and take in the cool, laid-back vibe here.
The Maka is open from 4pm – 11pm daily.
