Pullman Khao Lak Katiliya Resort and Villas recently opened a home grown vegetable garden, passionate about sustainability and providing our guest with the healthiest ingredients for meals consumed at this 5 star resort. Recently the resort cultivated 500sq meters of land area dedicated to a herb and vegetable garden within the grounds. The garden includes over 14 plants used to cook in the 5 restaurants (The Terrace beachfront restaurant, Bamboo Restaurant, Café Lilawadee Restaurant, Mosaic Restaurant and Bann Thai Restaurant) in this luxury beachfront resort.
By having a herb and vegetable garden on site we are not only able to offer our guest the freshest and healthiest of ingredients but Pullman Khao Lak Katiliya Resort and Villas is also able to reduce our carbon footprint by decreasing the demand for motorised deliveries from Phuket International Airport to the resort. All part of the Accor Planet 21 promise to help to improve the local environment.
Executive Chef Patrice Guibert explains “it doesn’t get fresher than walking to the garden picking fresh ingredients for our signature dishes like Khao Kra Praow, Deep-fried Lobster Wonton with Lemongrass& Coconut Sauce and Grilled Vegetable Lasagne with Three Cheese Sauce. Pullman Khao Lak Katiliya Resort and Villas also use the garden for its cooking classes where guests have the luxury of picking their own herbs and vegetables required to cook traditional Thai dishes like Tom Yum Goong and Green Curry Chicken.
The garden is maintained by an experienced horticultural team and uses the hotel’s nearby freshwater lagoon for irrigation. We plant vegetables every month and maintain the average needs off 500-600 guests that are on the resort daily. The five restaurants at the resort are available for in house or outside guests.
