Phuket holds Old Town Walk Rally 

On 11th May 2013 at the Queen Sirikit Chalermprakiet 72 Years Park (Dragon Park) Thalang Road, in Phuket Town, Director of TAT Phuket – Chanchai Doungjit together with Phuket City Mayor – Somjai Suwansupana presided over an event entitled “Phuket Old Town Walk Rally”.

TAT Phuket and Phuket City Municipality organized the “Phuket Old Town Walk Rally” in cooperation with the Old Phuket Foundation, The Thai Peranakan Association, Phuket Thaihua Museum and Thai Airways. The event saw 154 participants walk around the old town area of Phuket taking in Thalang Road, Krabi Road, Satul Road, Dibuk Road and Soi Rommanee and having a chance to view historic photos of the town and receiving information on the town’s Sino-Portuguese architecture, Phuket language and local foods.

TAT Phuket Director said “The Phuket Old Town Walk Rally is being held to promote Phuket Old Town’s culture and to create another option for tourists in addition to sandy beaches. Activities such as this will make tourists aware of the attractions of Phuket Town and the Old Town. This is a great selling point for cultural tourism, consistent with the country’s tourism strategy, which focuses on Thai subject Thainess.
