New hotels open – a good sign of the tourism industry

29 September 2009 – Entrepreneurs in Phuket and Phang-nga Province gradually unveil their hotel and accommodation projects in response to the economic recovery and coming high season.

Deputy Secretary-General to the Prime Minister, Anchalee Vanich Tephabutra said in the grand opening ceremony of Andaman Thai Boutique Resort (a hotel of MP Rawat Areerob) in Rawai that the tourism situation in Andaman region shows some good signs.

It has been found that hotel business is growing again especially in Phuket, Krabi and Khaolak area of Phang-nga. Though the growth rate is considerably in lower percentage compared to expansion in the same period of 2006 when the tourism went to the peak and we had to welcome about 5 million travellers, it indicates the recovery.
