16 November 2009 – Traditional dance performers, Thai music band and a number of students dressing traditional costume from Phuket Rajabhat University, together with Executive Director for ASEAN, South Asia and Pacific Mr Prakit Piriyakiet, TAT Phuket director Mrs Bang-ornrat Rojwannasin, officials from Phuket Airport and media, at International Arrivals Lobby, the Immigration Check Point, Phuket Airport, on November 14th welcomed 180 Australian visitors who traveled to Phuket from Perth with first direct flight of Pacific Blue Airlines DJ 4149.
The new service between Perth and Phuket will operate twice a week from Perth to Phuket or on Tuesdays and Saturdays from now on until March 2010.
Bang-ornrat Rojwannasin director of TAT Phuket said Australian tourists is a key visitor of Phuket. They like to choose Phuket and nearby provinces for their vacation. Statistics said tourist arrivals to Phuket reach 350,000 a year.
Further, V Australia Airline at the end of this year set to launch the Brisbane to Phuket route on November 22nd and Melbourne to Phuket on December 3rd. Flights to Brisbane will be available three times a week and Phuket-Melbourne flight will be once a week.
For this first Perth-Phuket flight, TAT Sydney Office has a plan to lead Australian entrepreneurs and press to inspect Phuket’s readiness and visit many attractions as well as enjoy activities e.g. Thai cooking class, Thai martial arts, yoga class, elephant trekking, nightlife in Patong etc. TAT supported accommodation, transfer and a welcome dinner.
