Arpong is one of Phuket famous local desserts. It is not Phuket genuine dessert but Malaysian’s “Kanom Bueng”.
How to make Arpong? Easily, just mix rice flour, yolk, coconut milk, sugar, drinking water, and yeast together and whisk everything in a bowl until smooth. The ingredients will be watery. Then heat up a nonstick pan over medium-high heat.
Using a ladle, pour watery onto the center of the pan. Holding onto the handle of the pan, remove it from the heat and swirl the pan.
And you will get a golden-yellow with soft inside but crack slim dessert called “Arpong”.
Phuketindex.com had a chance to talk with the owner of the first Mae Sunee Arpong’s cart in Phuket. The inheritor of Arpong told us that all ingredients and taste of Arpong is as same as 30 years ago.
If you have a chance to visit Phuket, don’t forget to try “Arpong”!
