On 18th August 2014 at the Pearl Phuket Hotel in Phuket City, Phuket Vocational College held a signing ceremony of a partnership agreement or MOU with the Thai Hotels Association – Southern Chapter to develop vocational standards, occupational standards, and professional qualification for job positions in the hotel sector. The event , which saw Phuket Vocational College Director – Dr. Sunthron Polrong and President of the Thai Hotels Association’s southern Chapter – Khun Krisada Tansakul sign the agreement, also included a vocational training contract awarding ceremony and a meeting of parents and orientation students of the bilateral system in Disciplines of Food and Nutrition, Disciplines of Hotel and Hospitality and Disciplines of Hotel Economics. A total of 18 Phuket hotels joined the MOU.
Dr. Sunthron said “The signing of the MOU aims to provide all parties involved a chance to develop vocational standards, occupational standards, and professional qualification for job positions in the hotel sector. The Vocational College is responsible for the management of vocational and professional training which produces and develops skilled manpower at a technical level with a level of technology, quality and standards which are in-line with economic and social development. The Thai Hotels Association’s southern chapter is an agency that oversees the hotel and tourism industry and promotes the professional training of teachers and students as to develop their knowledge, skills and competencies to meet the needs of the industry. This MOU will allow teachers and students to gain experience in the profession directly from the workplace.”
