Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prapa Kayee, the President of Phuket Rajabhat University or PKRU, said after a meeting with representatives from Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMap) that PKRU had joined a drugs prevention network with Unimap. Apart from PKRU, there were three other universities in the south of Thailand that joined the network.
She said that representatives from UniMap came to Phuket to survey the drugs problem situation on the island before discussing with PKRU board how to prevent drugs effectively.
She added that PKRU had set up a center to educate its students about drugs with the intention to make the university free from drugs use. Anyway, she accepted that it was very hard to make the university 100% free from drugs since there were a lot of students coming from different places and backgrounds. The university’s board, lecturers and staff had to take care of them more to make sure that they would not do anything related to drugs. She however assured that there was no serious drugs use in the university.
