The 37-year-old South Korean Yang Yong-Eun became the first Asian-born player to win a major championship, USPGA, at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota.
Yang was two shots adrift of Woods but finally win by three on the final green.
This is his second victory after he won the Honda Classic early this year.
He was seeking his 15th career major and his first major of the year but saw his lead halved to just two strokes after 54 holes and took a 75 for second place while Lee Westwood and Rory McIlroy hold onto third place.
