Triathlon Head Coach Ricky Ekkarat Phanthip in conjunction with Thanyapura Phuket recently held a “Born Free to Run Champions’ Party” to acknowledge the hard work and dedication the runners have made last year while training at Thanyapura and joining the competitions around Thailand.
“We wanted to organize this event to show appreciation of their hard work and improvement with an aim to motivate them to keep on going and live the dream,” said Ricky.
Offering swim, bike, and run training at Thanyapura’s world class pool and facilities without charge, the ‘Born Free to Run’ project is focused on sourcing local young sporting talent to nurture the future generation of running and triathlon athletes.
“I think it’s an inspiring environment here for children, training alongside professional athletes, Olympians and world record holders gives a sense of tangibility to their aspirations. Training at the same facilities as these sporting greats show them that their goals are attainable with the right outlook and support,” said 4 time triathlon world champion and Thanyapura Executive Chairman, Chris McCormack.
The most talented award this year goes to Born Free to Run member Witthawat Waree (Thep), 17 years, who won the bronze medal at the 32nd National Youth Games Suphanburi finishing 140km cycling in 3:41hrs with an average pacing of 37km/hr.
Born Free to Run running programs are available Monday to Friday at 5pm. All levels are welcome. For more information, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
