Phuket, Thailand: Supersports, in cooperation with Thanyapura Phuket, will organize the second “10 Mile International Run 2016 Phuket Presented by Thanyapura” in Phuket on March 13th, 2016, following the success from last year with nearly 1,500 runners.
On 15th January 2016, the ‘2nd 10 Mile International Run 2016 Phuket Presented by Thanyapura’ press conference was held at Central Festival Phuket. Mr. Virat Patee, Director of Sports Authority of Thailand’s Phuket Office, was guest of honour along with Mr. Tony Morton, President of CRC Sports Co., Ltd., and Executive of Supersports, Ms. Siraporn Wattana, Assistant Vice President of Marketing of CRC Sports, Ms. Kaimuk Nilsatetee, General Manager of Skechers, and Mr. Chris McCormack, Thanyapura Executive Chairman.
Mr. Morton said that the first 10 Mile International Run 2015 was very successful and there were nearly 1,500 Thai and international runners including children and youths. This year Supersports, Thailand’s largest sports retail conglomerate, will again join hands with Thanyapura Phuket, Asia’s leading active health resort, to continue the success by organizing the second competition. Moreover, part of the proceeds from the registration fee would be allocated for a local Phuket CSR group called “Born Free to Run”, a group of youth dedicated to running. The group was founded by Coach Ricky Ekarat Phanthip with the training facilities supported by Thanyapura Phuket.
Mr. Chris McCormack stated that Thanyapura was very proud to organize this international run to represent the potential of Phuket as a fantastic place for different kinds of sports. There was a large number of foreign participants including “Toon Bodyslam” or Artiwara Kongmalai, a famous Thai rocker, who made a new record last year and also UK Formula 1 driver, Jenson Button, who joined this race as well. It will be another fun race this year.
The 10 Mile International Run first started in Bangkok in 2013 and drew much attention for Bangkok runners with the number increasing in double fold each year. Supersports then decided to expand the running route, selecting Phuket as the first province outside Bangkok, due to its beautiful trails. For the Phuket event, the routes will start from Thanyapura’s 500 m running track and the runners exit to run through rubber plantations and the Khao Phra Taew National Park before ending up at Thanyapura’s finish line.
‘Supersports 10 Mile International Run 2016 Phuket Presented by Thanyapura’ is going to take place on Sunday, 13th March 2016 from 06.00 onwards at Thanyapura Phuket. The first 2,500 participants will receive a t-shirt and a medal.
