Over 50% of Japanese runners cancelled their bookings in Phuket International Marathon

Buayan Suwannamanee, Head of Phuket Tourism and Sport Office, assured the safety of the 5th Laguna Phuket International Marathon which would be held on June 13th 2010. He revealed that there were approximately 4,000 runners from all over the world registered for the competition.

However the previous violent situation in Bangkok had made over 50% of Japanese runners cancel their booking for the competition this year, since the Japanese government had warned their citizens not to travel to Thailand during the past protests.

However, there were increasing numbers of runners from other countries who will still make the competition lively as well.
