Around 2,000 fans turned out to watch Phuklet FC’s final home game of the 2014 Yamaha Thai Division One season at Surakul Stadium on Saturday (25th October 2014). The game saw the Ronins take on Ayutthaya FC, a team that had already beaten Phuket twice this season, 3 – 4 in the first round of the FA Cup, and 3 – 0 in the away fixture of the league. Although both teams had little to play for with regards to promotion or relegation, it was clear from the kick-off it was still a game both teams wanted to win.
It was mid-way through the first half that Ayutthaya surprised Phuket with a quick break ad took a one – nil lead. However, Phuket soon fought back with Japanese defender and fan’s favourite, Sato, equalizing and sealing his place as Phuket’s top scorer of the season.
Both teams were creating chances in the second half but it looked like the game would remain at 1 – 1 until the dying seconds of the game when Phuket’s Trinidad and Tobago international striker Kendall Jagdeosingh stunned Ayutthaya beautifully lobbing the Ayutthaya keeper with a stunning header.
The result moved Phuket up to 10 in the league table with the final game of the season to be played on Saturday 1st November 2014 against newly promoted Saraburi FC.
