‘Vikings’ a cheerleading team from Phuketwittayalai School just won the Southern Cheerleading Contest in Secondary School Category (under-18) and become a representative of the region to take part in Asian Thailand Cheerleading Invitation 2009. Hosted by Ministry of Tourism and Sport, the competition will be held at National Stadium on coming 19-20 September, 2009. Teams from Japan, Korea, China, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore etc. will also join.
Student Chakri Aikwanich the leader of ‘Vikings’ said the team use the time after school to practice. “Now the team’s readiness is at 70%. Focusing on the body strength and team’s unity, we are confident to fight and win the competition,” revealed Chakri.
The competition is classified into 5 categories include Kindergarten (under-7), Primary School (under-12), Secondary School (under-18), over 18, and International. The winner from each category in this round will be Asia’s representative to participate in global competition which will be taken place in Germany at the end of this year.
