Capello resigns over Terry decision

Fabio Capello FA EnglandENGLAND’S football manager Fabio Capello has quit over the sacking of captain John Terry.

The 65-year-old Italian pulled the pin immediately after an hour-long meeting with FA chairman David Bernstein and FA general secretary Alex Horne.

Terry was stripped of the national team captaincy last week in the lead-up to his racism trial, in which he will be accused of racially abusing Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand.

Capello, who was due to end his tenure as the national team manager after Euro 2012, had earlier voiced his anger at the decision to take the captaincy from Terry.

“I completely disagree with the FA about the John Terry decision and I have told that to the chairman,” he said.
