The 27-year-old Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has completed signed a five-year contract transfer to Barca and ended his three-year of fame at the San Siro, with Eto’o and Hleb moving to Inter Milan as part of the deal.
Ibrahimovic completed his medical on last Monday and will need treatment after fracturing in his left hand finger.
“It’s a very big move for me and too good to turn down,” Ibrahimovic told a news conference at the Nou Camp following his signing.
Even if he will wear the number nine shirt formerly held by Eto’o, but he doesn’t want anyone to expect that he’s the new Eto’o. “I’m not coming here to be Samuel Eto’o, I’m somebody else, somebody new, but I will try to achieve as much as Eto’o, or even more.”
He also told a news conference that this is his big move and too good to turn down, “There comes a time when you want to develop more and my desire to come to Barcelona was too big to stay at Inter.”
“I made an agreement with the president of Inter that the only club they could sell me to was Barcelona,” he said.
“The others could ask but they wouldn’t get a reply. The only one I answered was Barca. That gives me a special feeling.
“Barca has an historic tradition. Everyone wants to be part of this great club, they’ve made history and I want to be part of that history.”
Barca president Joan Laporta hailed Ibrahimovic’s arrival, and added: “He is not a conformist, he is ambitious, a winner, an authentic man with strong feelings and he wanted to come to Barcelona.”
