Phuket’s Mom Tri’s Kitchen hosts exclusive Thai cooking event
Saturday 3rd May 2014 saw Mom Tri’s Villa Royale’s award winning restaurant, Mom Tri’s Kitchen, play host to a very special food event entitled “Key to Thai Food Treasure Box”, which was hosted by Bangkok born Chef, author and TV presenter Su-Mei Yu.
Su- Mei Yu emigrated to America at 15 years of age and opened her first restaurant Saffron, in 1985. Saffron was the first Thai restaurant in San Diego and is still going strong after nearly 30 years in business. She is the author of Cracking the Coconut: Classic Thai Home Cooking, and winner of the Julia Child Award, and Asian Grilling. She has also appeared on numerous national television shows, including Today, Good Morning America, The Martha Stewart Show and The Cooking Channel.
At the one hour event, guests, who were from various countries around the word including Thailand, England, Australia, Turkey, Finland and Denmark got to learn how to really cook Thai food, the traditional old-fashioned way, learn about Thai food history, culture, tradition and enjoyed a special set menu prepared by Su- Mei Yu herself.
