Phuket, Thailand, 30 May 2018 – Marriott International’s leading resorts in Phuket joined forces hosting an event aimed to raise awareness about the motorcycle safety among Thai children. Almost 60 children from Siray Bay High School attended the event which was held at The Westin Siray Bay Resort & Spa, Phuket, to learn about road safety and the importance of wearing a helmet when traveling by motorcycle.

JW Marriott Phuket joins Marriott International’s Journey Week :: attract top talent

JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa hosts numerous events for associates such as “To The Journey” day with Marriott International. Executive associate in senior leadership role, Matthias Y. Sutter, General Manager shares his own career journeys to inspire others to reach their own career destinations. The associates also had an opportunity to learn more about Marriott culture and history throughout the fun games and activities after the hotel tour.

JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa has been taking an active role in working with universities to offer students to internships, voyage or direct placement opportunities and open up the chance to attract young talent and help them grow their hospitality careers. On May 4, the 7 representative culinary teams of young and talented chefs from JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa, JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa, Marriott Resort Phuket Merlin Beach, Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort, The Naka Island Resort & Spa Phuket, Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa and The Westin Siray Bay Resort & Spa Phuket will showcase their kitchen skill and creativity at the culinary challenge. Mr. Norraphat Plodthong, Phuket Governor and Miss Kanokkrittika Kritwutthikorn, Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Phuket Office will be the guests of honour and be part of the judge panel on that day.

Furthermore, The Marriott International Job Fair as part of Journey Week will take place during August, 10 am – 6 pm, more details of the event to be announced at the further stage. Interested candidates should bring along a copy of their resume. There will also be a focus on female leadership roles – the Female Leadership Event – where inspiring associates such as Khanisthanee Kanthanit, Director of Human Resources, JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa will showcase and emphasize their progression and journey throughout each stage of their career.

JW Marriott Phuket Announces The Appointment of New General Manager – Matthias Y. Sutter

Phuket, Thailand – 24 April, 2018: JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa is delighted to announce the appointment of Matthias Y. Sutter as the General Manager who brings with him a wealth of knowledge and 18 years of luxury hospitality expertise. In this role, he will be primarily responsible for managing the hotel operations and maintaining the exceptional services of the 265-room keys luxury Phuket resort which located on Mai Khao Beach.

Matthias started off as an architect but very soon discovered his passion in hospitality obtaining his degree at the Swiss Hotel Management School, Zurich Belvoirpark. Matthias received his Masters of Business Administration at the Zurich Graduate Business School of Administration which gave him the necessary tools to advance in his career as a Hotelier.

He brings with him over 18 years of experience with some of the world’s leading luxury properties including Peninsula and Hyatt.

Matthias joined our company in 2011 as Hotel Manager at the St. Regis Sanya followed by his first General Manager appointment at Sheraton D cube City, Seoul in 2014. Over the past few months Matthias has been assigned to the corporate office, assisting in diverse Task Force assignments such as the St. Regis Singapore and the two newly opened Moxy hotels in Tokyo and Osaka.

Matthias is a former member of the Swiss National Junior Golf team as well as being an active and passionate triathlete. Over the weekend he is devoted to his wife Elia and their adorable 5 years old twin, Adriana and Sebastian. He speaks effectively multilingual among German, English and French.
