SMART Expo teams with Phuket Has Been Good To UsWinning combination as new expo teams up with local charity.

The SMART Property and Lifestyle Expo is proud to announce that it has chosen local charity, Phuket Has Been Good To Us, as its charity of choice for 2012.

Phuket’s newest event will take place from 27th – 30th December, 2012, at the Royal Phuket Marina. Participants will experience the many ways Phuket can be good to them through: seminars by property and investment experts, food tastings and information about cruises available in the area. They will also have the opportunity to partake in showcases of cars, yachts, international properties and helicopter rides.

Hoi Cheung, Director of the SMART Property & Lifestyle Expo, Phuket said, “It is very fitting that we are supporting the Phuket Has Been Good To Us charity to remind ourselves of the privileges we have and to share the good life by helping local underprivileged kids.”

The Expo offers free entrance and will be accepting donations for the charity.

Not only is there plenty to do and see the SMART Expo is also a family oriented event. There will be a special Kid’s Activity Area within the expo where kids can fully immerse themselves in creative play.

Phuket’s Biggest Tropical Party

Phuket’s Biggest Tropical PartyDust off your grass skirt, grab your coconut bra and put a flower in your hair in preparation for Kamala’s Biggest Tropical Party, the Luau for Learning!

With the date set for Friday 7th December at the newly opened Kamala Beer Garden, the party is in aid of charity Phuket Has Been Good To Us.  Phuket businesses are falling over themselves to donate prizes and all money raised goes toward providing a free English education to local Thai children.

Event organiser, Jody White, is ecstatic at how much people are supporting the event.

“Since we decided to hold this fundraiser, the community has really come together.  Kamala Beer Garden has given us their venue for free, and Papa’s Tropical Garden is sponsoring the food.  It is going to be a great night.”

Phuket Has Been Good To Us provides a free English education to more than 850 children at 2 schools in Kamala and Kalim.  They also run an outside school hours program for children who live at Kamala school.

Tickets are 200 baht and include a welcome cocktail, food and lucky door prize.  In addition, we will be raffling some amazing prizes.  Kamala’s Biggest Tropical Party starts at 7pm, and tickets are available at the door.

Phuket’s Thaynapura Give Back Campaign On 17th November 2012, Staff of Phuket’s Thanyapura together with the Green Charity gathered for its second Give Back Campaign.

The event saw the 6th successive year of their Butterfly Release, which saw the release of 2,000 butterflies at Khao Phra Taew non hunting area near Bang Pae Waterfall.

Phuket Has Been Good To Us, DJ Tom the Tank  and FAMOUS nightclub, Jungceylon, are proud to present Phuket’s Ultimate Social – Almost FAMOUS .

Saturday 15th September sees the elite of Phuket’s 14 – 16 year olds cutting shapes at Phuket’s most exclusive nightclub – FAMOUS, on the roof top beach club.

Patrons will be entertained and amazed by: the pool party games, the variety of food and non-alcoholic beverages options available for sale, fire dancers and musical stylings of well known local DJ, Tom the Tank.

Qualified lifeguards and security guards will be on hand as well as volunteers and teachers from charity organiser Phuket Has Been Good To Us Foundation and international schools.

Angela McNoe, from organiser Phuket Has Been Good To Us is excited about the event.  ‘This is a great opportunity for children from all different backgrounds to come together and be united by the joy of music.  We hope to see as many children as possible coming along to support this wonderful cause.’

Tickets are available from your school or available on the night at the door.  Special thanks go to FAMOUS, Tom the Tank and B.I.S. for their support of this event.  All proceeds go to Phuket Has Been Good To Us, helping underprivileged local Thai children.

Phuket Has Been Good To Us Foundation is a Thai registered charity, which aims to foster vocational opportunities for Thai children through English.  English is taught to over 860 children in two government schools in Phuket, including 130 residential children who live at the school.  The goal is to provide the best possible English language education by placing qualified, fluent English speaking teachers in classrooms.  The programs help Thai youth become capable and confident English speakers so that they can secure well-paid employment.

Phuket Quiz Champs call all challengers!

“Phuket’s Most Smartest” charity pub quiz team, Quiz On Your Face, challenge all comers to try and beat them on August 27th, starting 7pm.  Hosted by the Aussie Pub, Kamala, this monthly event is a highlight on everyone’s calendar – not only because of the kudos and the prizes, but because it supports a great local charity, Phuket Has Been Good To Us.

Phuket Has Been Good To Us provides free English language education to over 850 children in public schools in Kamala and Kalim.

Prizes, including a diving voucher, bar tabs, meals and beauty treatments are all generously donated by local businesses.

Phuket’s Operation Smile Thailand

Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket recently rolled out its second charitable bowling tournament at CS Bowling, Big C Supermarket, Phuket. The successful social networking event linked up travel industry colleagues and local Phuket residents.

Proceeds from the fundraiser went towards the ongoing ‘Dusit Smiles – Operation Smile Thailand’ programme that raises funds for a charity which provides reconstructive surgery for children born with facial deformities, such as cleft lip and cleft palate. Each year, Dusit International organizes the surgery and treatment for disadvantaged children around Thailand.

Mr. Peter Komposch, General Manager of Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket, presented The Governor’s Cup to the winners at an awards ceremony. The winning team from Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket scored a total of 1,460 points. The second placed team from Bangkok Hospital Phuket scored 1,400 points. The Laguna Holiday Club came in the third place. In the men’s league, the winner was Mr. Karan Nomahama from Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket with the highest score of 510; in the women’s leagues, Ms Jintana Rueng O-Cha from Angsana Laguna Phuket triumphed with a high score of 460 points.

Phuket's Monthly Charity Quiz Night

The last Monday of every month will see the brains of Phuket converge for a battle of wits and intellect – all for a good cause.

The Phuket Has Been Good To Us Foundation, in conjunction with Aussie Pub Kamala, begin monthly pub quizzes on July 30th.   The entry fee of 100 Baht per person goes directly towards making a difference to underprivileged local children.  Teams of 4 go head to head for the title of ‘Phuket’s Most Smartest’, while improving the lives of local children.

Phuket Has Been Good To Us is a Thai registered charity which teaches free English classes to every student in Kamala and Kalim Schools. They also run free after school and weekend programmes for the 130 residential children at Kamala School, most of who have no family to take care of them.  The Foundation receives no government funding, so it relies on fundraising events, such as this, to continue its vital work.

Aussie Pub owner, Peter, is happy to host these events, “I am excited to be support such a great cause.  It’s all about the kids! Come down, have a laugh and show your support of a local charity that is making a huge difference.”

Prizes including; bar tabs, meals and beauty treatments are all generously donated by local businesses.
