Phuket hospital takes 2 Asian Hospital Management Awards 2013Bangkok Hospital Phuket scooped two awards at the gala dinner marking the conclusion of the 12th Asian Hospital Management conference at the Shangri-La Hotel on 13 September, 2013.

The event was attended by a record 880 delegates from 34 countries and 398 organisations. The awards programme, now in its twelfth year, recognises and honours hospitals in Asia that have implemented or enhanced outstanding and innovative projects, programmes, and best practices during the previous year. This year’s awards garnered 298 entries representing 78 hospitals across 13 countries.

The awards are the final event of the Asian Hospital Management conference, which positions itself as Asia’s premier learning conference and expo for healthcare managers, clinicians and leaders. It includes a CEO Forum and Health Leaders Summit, which focus on providing updates on best management practices in the industry.

Tourism Authority of Thailand Governor Suraphon Svetasreni complimented the award winner for their commitment to raising the standards of the health and wellness sector. “It is exactly this kind of commitment which continues to raise Thailand’s image and attract thousands of visitors to seek medical care here.

“The health and wellness sector is one of our key target niche markets in our 2014 action plan. We hope to see more foreign health and wellness visitors taking advantage of our world-class and constantly improving facilities and services, as clearly exemplified by these awards,” the governor said.

Phuket Resort gains ISO environmental management award

Phuket Resort gains ISO environmental management awardCentara Kata Resort Phuket has been awarded ISO 14001:2004 status in recognition of the effectiveness of its environmental management systems.

The certification is awarded by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) and covers all aspects of the resort’s operation, including accommodation, housekeeping, restaurants and kitchens, fitness centre, kids’ club, and the engineering works for the spa, banqueting, human resources, and gardening.

“Environmental responsibility is one of the main elements of Centara corporate policy, and it applies to every one of our properties,” says David Good, vice president of operations at Centara Hotels and Resorts.

“The staff at the individual hotels always participate with enormous enthusiasm, and at Kata we have had very practical ideas being suggested by the team and implemented.
