Phuket, Thailand, May 2018 – Angsana Laguna Phuket has been recognised by the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau ( TCEB ) for its outstanding services in providing meeting rooms of the highest standard. Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau ( TCEB ) has awarded the resort with full Thailand MICE Venue Standard (TMVS) accreditation, continuing its continuous run of formal recognition for quality in this arena since it was first awarded the same certification three years ago.
Angsana Laguna Phuket has long maintained an excellent standard for its meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions areas. Its Angsana Ballroom 1 and 2 had first been given TMVS accreditation in 2015, and this recognition has now been renewed for another two-year period. Three additional meeting rooms – Anchan, Orchid and Tabak – were also certified by the same organisation in 2017, for a period lasting until 2019. Currently, the beachfront resort has the most number of meeting rooms that are TMVS-certified in Phuket, and by 2020 all 11 meeting rooms will be TMVS-certified.
The two ballrooms can accommodate up to 350 guests. With a 6.6-metre ceiling and an excellent atmosphere, the space is ideal for conferences, product launches, themed dinners and more. Anchan and Orchid Room can similarly be combined into a daylight superb 120-sqm location for large meetings or private celebrations. Tabak Room is also a daylight 60-sqm meeting space perfect for executive meetings.
Michal Zitek, Area General Manager of Angsana Laguna Phuket, commented on the TMVS certification, “This award represents a great deal of effort at all levels of our organisation, and another big step forward for Thai hospitality on the world stage,” he said. “It signals to the business world that Thailand is capable of hosting events at an international standard.”
The TMVS accreditations follow a detailed submission and official on-site inspections. They reflect the resort’s commitment to providing world-class MICE services, as overseen by Director of MICE & Events Watcharapong Saikaew. “To have five meeting rooms certified by the official government body is a terrific achievement for the resort, and for myself as director. Apart from having certified meeting venues, we are investing in having event management team certified by internationally renowned MICE organizations. With expectation by end of 2018, Angsana will have the team that holding 3 major certifications which are CMP (Certified Meeting Professional), CIS (Certified Incentive Specialist) and CEM (Certified Exhibition Management). This will make Angsana Laguna Phuket the first and only venue in Thailand that has acquired all three major certifications on MICE” he said. Mr. Saikaew himself has been individually honoured as the first Thai citizen to receive the industry standard Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) Certification.

Phuket, Thailand, May 2018 — Angsana Laguna Phuket is delighted to announce the arrival of Executive Chef Jose Borja to the beachfront resort. Chef Jose brings 25 years of his global knowledge and culinary experience to Angsana Laguna Phuket.
As Executive Chef, Jose oversees the resort’s seven dining venues, including signature Italian restaurant Bodega & Grill , Loy Krathong Bar known for its afternoon tea and live band, Thai seafood restaurant Baan Talay, XANA Beach Club – a premium day and night beach club, Market Place Restaurant and Poolside Restaurant. Chef Jose also oversees the resort’s In-Villa dining and banquets, catering events ranging in size from small meetings to large weddings of more than 1,000 people.
Originally from Spain, Jose joined the dining industry in 1982. He has held previous positions in luxury hotels including JW Marriot in Dubai and Kuwait, Courtyard in Middle East and Renaissance in Mumbai India and Bangkok.
During his time in Bangkok, he had the privilege of cooking for the Royal Family of Thailand and was awarded Renaissance Hotels Chef of the Year in 2013.

Songkran Festival, one of Thailand’s most anticipated and celebrated annual festivals on 13th April each year.
The festivities led by Michal Zitek, Area General Manager and management team together with associates and guests gathered for a celebratory religious session, followed by a water blessing ritual at the Poolside Garden. The pouring of fragrant water over the hands of elders is a symbol of paying respect and giving blessings for the New Year. Then activities continued with a long drum parade to the XANA Beach Club where hosted the event highlights from noon till midnight which includes “Get Wet”, a water fight with foam to cool down in the summer heat and an all-star lineup of DJs to keep the beach party grooving. Specials on food and drinks, along with plenty of extra beachside entertainment alongside the serene waters of Bang Tao Bay.
