Chef Alex hails from Melbourne, Australia. He comes with a long and distinguished culinary career, from working the kitchens at fifteen to stints at the top rated Rockpool Bar & Grill, Melbourne. For the past six years, he has been with the Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas Group. As Senior Chef de Cuisine at Six Senses Yao Noi. Thailand and most recently as Executive Chef at Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, Vietnam.
Says Devan Bhaskaran, General Manager of The Racha, “From the moment we interviewed with Chef Alex, we knew he would be the perfect fit for The Racha. His kitchen ethics for sourcing sustainable produce and exploring more ways of working in an environmentally friendly capacity parallels The Racha’s ethos of luxury eco-responsible tourism.”
Chef Alex’s vision for the resort’s three signature restaurants are as such; The Fire Grill (and Winner of 2019 World Luxury Restaurant Award for Mediterranean Cuisine in Asia) will remain a produce-driven restaurant focusing on simple but elegant preparations of beautiful local and imported ingredients. The oceanfront Sunset Restaurant will continue to highlight the best of local Thai cuisine. The chic, contemporary Earth Cafe will be a melting pot of local and international comfort foods.
