April 15, 2015 – Angsana Laguna Phuket celebrated the Thai New Year in style with a traditional Songkran Festival, a host of fun entertainment, and a vibrant water fight at XANA Beach Club.
Angsana Laguna Phuket in collaboration with Xana Beach Club With Attica celebrated the traditional Thai New Year, Songkran, on Monday 13th April. The festival started at Angsana Laguna Phuket, where associates and guests gathered for a celebratory religious session at the Loy Krathong Bar, followed by a water blessing ritual at the Poolside Garden. The pouring of fragrant water over the hands of elders is a symbol of paying respect and washing away bad luck for the year to come. The festivities then continued with a long drum parade, water war, Muay Tab Jak Boxing performance, Miss Songkran Contest and a delicious BBQ Thai buffet lunch at XANA Beach Club.
The word Songkran means “a move or change in the astrological position of the sun”, symbolized through the sprinkling of water and hand cleansing for good luck in the New Year.
Taking place during the hottest period of the year, Songkran is a welcome festival for the country to cool off. After the traditional water pouring ceremony, also known as Rod Nahm Dum Hua, the water throwing commences. Nowadays, the ceremony has evolved into fun water fights all over Thailand.
“By showcasing the true Thai traditional way of life, with all its colourful and vibrant festivities, we hope to provide our guests with memories that will last long after they depart” said Alpha Eldiansyah, Executive Assistant Manager of Angsana Laguna Phuket.
Not many hotels celebrate the New Year in a traditional and cultural sense. Angsana Laguna Phuket and Xana Beach Club allowed guests to experience fine Thai Cultural living with joy, plenty of water and lots of fun.
