Saint-Gobain Thailand by Weber (under the Gecko trademark) and Gyproc conducted the CSR campaign “Saint-Gobain We Care to fight Covid-19” to give more than 4,000 food boxes and survival bags to 10 construction campsites in Bangkok where are affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The objective of this campaign is to help alleviate the difficulties of affected workers and the Contractors during the closure of construction sites. Saint-Gobain Thailand also gives 100 sets of S-Shield protecting glass to Siriraj Hospital to ensure the safety of our Frontline Medical Personnel.
Siwaraya Sritirat, Chief Operating Officer of Saint-Gobain Thailand, said “The latest wave of Covid-19 has made the daily number of cases rise dramatically. The government’s decision to close all construction sites for one month to ease the affected numbers, has seriously impacted the lives of these workers. Saint-Gobain Thailand by Weber and Gyproc are well aware of the difficulties facing the workers in the camps, so our team are providing food and survival bags to these workers. We also put another attempt for the contribution of small-scale food vending to the livlihoods of food vendors who have been suffering from a severe drop in sales due to the pandemic crisis by ordering the food boxes from them.”
Siwaraya Sritirat added “In addition, we are also concerned for the safety of our medical personnel, so Saint-Gobain Group in Thailand; by Weber, Gyproc, Sekurit, PPL, and Abrasive; has given 100 sets of Saint-Gobain’s S-Shield tempered protecting glass to Siriraj Hospital to protect our Frontline Medical Personnel from the Covid-19 virus. This mission aligns with Saint-Gobain’s Purpose “MAKING THE WORLD A BETTER HOME” that we do not take care just only the people living in our home but also the people who live around us. And it’s for this reason that Saint-Gobain will continue to provide help wherever possible in order for Thai people to get through the ongoing crisis together with us.”
Supa Rojjanasungworn, the owner of a food vending at Vipawadee Road, said “Sales has dropped significantly following the third wave of Covid-19, and the situation has become much worse following the government’s lockdown measures. As a vendor, I just hope that the lockdown measures will help lower the number of virus cases, and the situation will return to normal as soon as possible. Thank you to Saint-Gobain Thailand for organizing this campaign to help distribute income to us.”
The campaign “Saint-Gobain We Care to Fight Covid-19” has been performed by Weber and Gyproc. The companies ordered food boxes from the surrounding restaurants being affected by the Covid-19 outbreak to distribute the income to them. The companies also gave survival bags containing rice, canned food, face masks, and labour suits to 10 construction campsites in Bangkok including the camp at On-Nut 17, the camp at Rama 3, the camp at Sukhumvit 36, the camp at Lasalle, the camp at Sukhumvit 50, the camp at Bangsue, the camp at Changwattana, the camp at Charoen Nakhon, the camp at Rama 9, and the camp at Phra Khanong.
