The official dish of the IDIC 2014 was Spaghetti al dente with tomato sauce and basil, one of the simplest yet most sophisticated dishes of Italian cuisine. The dish was celebrated by the Virtual Group of Italian Chefs, a network of over 1,900 culinary professionals working in 70 countries. Dust Thaini Phuket’s Executive Chef Silvano Almolini and his team joined the celebration by offering the dish on a special menu on 17th January at La Trattoria.
The International Day of Italian Cuisines helps to ensure that consumers receive authentic and quality Italian cuisine in eateries labeled “Italian,” as the organisation believes that when the name of a traditional Italian dish is used, that dish should be prepared in the traditional manner.
Thousands of chefs, restaurateurs and lovers of Italian food worldwide join the annual IDIC appeal, a tradition launched by the Virtual Group of Italian Chefs. To find out more about International Day of Italian Cuisine and its standards, visit www.itchefs-gvci.com
