Phuket Youth Sailing Club set to host Phuket Youth Week 2013

Phuket Youth Sailing Club set to host Phuket Youth Week 2013Phuket Youth Sailing Club would like to see more youngsters getting involved and enjoying the sport of sailing and they invite all youngsters to join Phuket Youth Week.

Phuket Youth Week offers young people the opportunity to learn to sail and hone crucial racing skills in the sport.

Training is open to all levels, but to get the most out of the week participants would benefit if they have already completed one of their beginner courses.  The club will be running RYA beginning courses most weekends during September & October leading up to the event.

The week will finish with a 2 day Regatta on the 25th & 26th October with divisions for the Optimist, Topper & Topaz.  Prizes will be awarded under two categories – one for beginners new to racing “Green Fleet” and one for advanced sailors “Racing Fleet”.

The two-day Regatta is also open to all other sailors wishing to join.

“Sailing provides excellent life training for young people; it helps develop character and important life skills such as leadership and teamwork in a hands on environment. We would like to see more people enjoying sailing and racing,” says Katy Gooch, RYA Club Coach.

Phuket Youth Week is a good introduction to sailing and racing and will give youngsters the skills to join in other Regattas.  The next big event on the Sailing Calendar is the Phuket King’s Cup International Dinghy Regatta 2013.

Phuket Youth Sailing Club is open every weekend offering recreational sailing, club racing, sailing courses and supervised boat rental for adults and juniors
They use a range of boats including Optimist, Topper, Topaz, Laser and Beach Cats and have qualified English and Thai speaking instructors to show you the ropes.

They also have kayaks, SUP’s and a great sandy beach for swimming – so something for all the family.  So come and join the fun.

The event is supported by Junior Squadron of Thailand (JSST) and the Phuket Sports Association (PSA).
