On Sunday 18 October, Laguna Phuket has organised an offering station for its management and associates, as well as the members of Cherngtalay and nearby communities, who have been observing the Phuket Vegetarian Festival to come together and worship the street procession of Chinese Gods entranced devotees (Known as “Ma Song”) which was the highlight of the 9-day ritual.
More than one hundred people had visited the station to worship and offer fruits and cups of tea to the Ma Song for good luck.
“I am delighted to observe this sacred ceremony alongside Laguna Phuket associates and the community members today,” said Mr. Ravi Chandran, Managing Director of Laguna Phuket,
“This is the 19th year Laguna Phuket has taken part in this highly respected Festival. Before the offering station set up today, on Monday 12 October, representatives of Laguna Phuket Executives had also paid a visit and donated food and supplies to local shrines to ensure there are enough vegetarian food for those who strictly observe the ritual” he concluded.
Phuket Vegetarian Festival is held during the ninth lunar month each year. This year, the festival falls on 13 – 21 October. It is believed that strictly observing vegetarianism during the festival will bring good fortune.
