The second Buddhist Education Camp for Youths for the year 2014 was launched on May 25 by Deputy Chief Executive Chaowalit Na Nakorng. The launch was attended by Ouiporn Sakultan – Head of Religious and Cultural Education, Patchani Kanwilaikul – Director of PPAO Ban Talad Nuea School, PPAO officers, teachers and students.
Taking place from May 25th – 27th 2014 at Chalerm Phrakiat Meditation Center in Karon, the 2nd Buddhist Education Camp for Young People 2014, was participated by 133 students from PPAO Ban Talad Neua School and taught by seven teachers.
Course activities included: manner for good Buddhists, the four basic Buddhist precepts, the value of being good children and students, how to stay away from drugs and other temptations, principles of karma, morning and evening prayers. Lectures, by monk speakers from Chonprathan Rangsarit Temple, included: “Buddhist Lifestyle Development”, “The Path of Young Buddhists”, “Relationship the Buddhist Way”, and “How to Attain Elevation” among others.
Mr Chaowalit highlighted the importance of Buddhist education for young people who would find the teachings beneficial in daily life and applicable in everything they do. One of the Buddhist tenets is for children to repay their parents’ kindness, said Mr Chaowalit, who ended his speech by thanking all concerned for the organization of this Buddhist teaching program.
