Phuket join "Incident Management System: ICS"

On 14th Aug 2012 at Royal Phuket City, Phuket Governor Mr.Tri Ackaradecha together with government agencies, local governments, public health agencies, foundations and about 40 Phuket agencies signed a memorandum of cooperation “Incident Management System: ICS” (ICS Pilot Province).

This project is to improve the system of disaster management and assisting victims. The new international system has been developed in the United States for more than 40 years.

Phuket is the first pilot province for the ICS system, which has been implemented after cooperation between ASEAN and the United States (ASEAN-US Cooperation on Disaster Management: ACDM), and Phuket was chosen because it has been noted it is ready and seriously committed to the care of residents and visitors. The program has three pilot countries; Brunei Darussalam, Philippines and Thailand.

The ICS systems to be used in disaster management in Phuket will ensure all parties act in the same way. Therefore, should a disaster arise it will make sure there is no confusion and everybody performs in the same way.
