Phuket’s 4th ’Quiksilver Thailand Surf Competition’

On 11th July 2012 at Phuket’s City Hall Mr.Chanin Aeiyaruk – President Phuket Surfing Association and their members met with Mr. Tri Akaradecha- Phuket’s Governor, to discuss “Quiksilver Thailand Surf
Competition 2012”, to be held 12th – 15th September 2012 at Patong Beach, Phuket.

Mr.Chanin said “’Quiksilver Thailand Surf Competition’ will be held for its fourth consecutive year and is the biggest international surf competition in Thailand. It is a joint venture held together with Phuket Government, Patong Municipality and the Surfing Association.

The competition’s main objective was is to stimulate Phuket’s tourism during Low Season and to promote surfing and to promote Phuket as an ideal surf destination from June to September each year.”

The Quiksilver Thailand Surf Competition 2012 will see 300 competitors from countries including Australia, Hawaii, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Hong
Kong, U.S. and also a number of local surfers.

This year will see five competition categories; Men’s Shortboard Division, Women’s Division, Open Longboard Division, Master’s Division (entrants over 35) and Grommet’s Division (entrants
under 16 years).

In addition to the competitions, there will also be activities such as; lessons by “Quiksilver Pro” instructors, shows from the surf team, “Quiksilver & Roxy” fashion show and concerts by famous artists.
