JW Marriott Phuket’s Gourmet WeekendOn Friday 24th October 2014, JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa held a press conference to announce details of their Premier Gourmet Weekend.

The resorts much anticipated Gourmet Weekend will take place on November 14 to 16 2014, incorporating a series of specialist-led cooking demonstrations and set dinners and culminating in a Charity Dinner.

The Gourmet Weekend fits perfectly with JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa’s position as a leading epicurean destination in Phuket and indeed Thailand, offering plenty for both in-house guests and Phuket residents who adore fine dining, fine wine and healthy eating.

The Charity Dinner on Sunday, November 16th 2014, at the resort’s Marriott Café will feature the culinary creations of 5 internationally renowned chefs. Priced at THB 2,900++ per person, the evening’s menu is a scintillating line-up of Japanese, Thai, Western and seafood dishes.

JW Marriott Phuket’s Gourmet WeekendJW Marriott Phuket’s Gourmet WeekendFunds raised from the Charity Dinner will be presented to the Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation, for its project to build a facility dedicated to the protection of Phuket’s endangered sea turtles that face the threat of commercial fishing, consuming or becoming entangled in ocean litter and being hit by speedboats. The Marine Turtle Shelter & Education Center is due to open mid-2015 at JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa on land donated by the resort. Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation was launched in 2002 by the resort and is this year celebrating its 12th anniversary.

The 5 chefs who will each add their own culinary flair and creativity to the charity Dinner’s flair will be Chef Peter Manifis of InContro restaurant in Perth, Chef Norio Nomoto of JW Marriott Bangkok, Chef Nooror Somany-Steppe from Blue Elephant cooking school and restaurants, Tim Butler of Eat Me restaurant in Bangkok and JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa’s own Chef Dietmar Spitzer.

JW Marriott Phuket’s Gourmet WeekendDuring the Gourmet Weekend, the chefs will also be staging cooking demonstrations at the resort’s Ginja Cook Cooking School focusing on their particular specialty and hosting set dinners at Ginja Taste, Cucina, Kabuki Japanese Cuisine Theatre and Andaman Grill restaurants. The cooking demonstrations are priced at THB 1,900++ per person and the set dinners at THB 2,500++ per person.

The cooking demonstrations incude those by Chef Nooror on a 2 course menu of Tumee orange Cury with Sea Snake-Head Fish, Coconut Milk Soup with River Prawns, by Chef Tim on Pearl Shell Ceviche with Yuzu Granite, Honeydew and Shisho; and Chilled Avocado Soup with King Crab by Chef Peter, Pete’s Paella – Shark bay/Austral Prawns, Cloudy Bay Clams, Kinkawooka Mussels, Fraser Isle Spanner Crab, North Queensland Cobia Saffron Ouzo Battered Shark Bay Prawns and some of the Dos & Don’ts of seafood; and by Chef Norio on Shrimp Crunchy Roll and Spicy Salmon Temaki Roll Sushi.

On Friday, Noember 14 the set dinners will be hosted by Chef Mooror at Ginja Taste and by Chef tim at Cucina and on Saturday, November 15 by Chef peter at Andaman Grill and by Chef Norio at Kabuki Japanese Cuisine Theatre. All are 5 courses.
