February 2015, Krabi – Jacobo Astray, former Chef at Spain´s legendary 3-star Michelin Restaurant “El Buli”, will delight lovers of gourmet dining when he takes the helm and presents his special “avant-garde” dinner menu at Venezia Restaurant on 13 and 14 March, 2015. Born in Spain’s vibrant northwestern region of Galicia, known internationally as a foodie paradise, Chef Jacobo developed a passion for artisanal yet distinctly modern cuisine. His culinary explorations and outstanding skills led him to elBulli, the famed Michelin 3-star restaurant of Chef Ferran Adrià.
Jacobo has worked as a Consulting Chef for several hospitality enterprises in Thailand including the Imperial Queens Park Bangkok, and the Maikhao Dream Resort and Spa Phuket & Pang Nga. He also served as the Executive Chef for Ocean Bangkok Urban Resort.
For two nights only at Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort, Chef Jacobo will take diners on a creative culinary journey designed to shock, surprise and delight.

Diners will enjoy amuse buche of olive spheres, prawns in two textures, and foie gras mousse, starters of Andaman prawn ceviche with tomato granite and passion fruit, salmon tataki with guacamole, mango and ponzu sauce, and 65ºC sous vide egg on a mushroom foam with crispy ham and truffle oil. A choice of main course dishes will include white snapper in yellow curry with potato puree and kaffir leaf air, or grilled Iberico Presa with creamy Parmesan polenta, champignon and basil oil followed by a dessert of yogurt sponge with white chocolate sauce, berries and crispy coconut.
On Friday 13th March at 4 p.m. the gifted chef will also present a fascinating cooking demonstration of spherification, foams and airs.
