Over 2,000 of the island’s health club members gathered at the 4000-seat Sapan Hin Gym to take part in a mass Line Dance on July 25th 2014. The event was part of the PPAO-funded fitness program “Phuket Fit, Phuket United,” during which time planned health and exercise activities were proposed to fitness and senior clubs throughout the island.
The activity was opened by Chief Executive – Paiboon Upattising, who was accompanied by President of Phuket Sports Association – Saroj Angkanapilas (also a PPAO Council Member), Council Chairman – Pradit Saengchan, other Council members, and guests.
The Phuket Line Dance activity is part of the PPAO-funded One Tambon One Aerobic fitness activities, carried out by the Phuket Public Health Office. For this program, PPAO funding has been used towards the training of instructors, purchase of sound equipment and the organization of networking activities.
Mr Paiboon highlighted the importance of fitness programs as part of a healthy lifestyle and development of good mental attitude. He thanked all organizations concerned including the Phuket Sports Association, Phuket Public Health Office, Phuket City Municipality, Phuket Tourism and Sports Office, Sports Authority Phuket, Leaders of Line Dance groups, Senior Citizen Clubs and others, for having support the program.
This display of unity, said Mr Paiboon, was responsible for Phuket being selected to host the 8th Phuket Games for which Phuket will be known. Mr Paiboon hopes that the people of Phuket will unite again for another important sports event, the Asian Beach Games scheduled for end of the year.
