Rice in the last rice field of Phuket has been harvested on HM the King’s birthday

7 December 2009 – Phuket Governor Vichai Praisa-ngob on December 5th presided over the opening ceremony of rice harvest of the Learning Centre of King Bhumipol ‘s Philosophy of Economic Sufficiency in Moo 4, Makhao, Thalang, Phuket which is the last rice field of Phuket.

The rice has been planted on all area of 128 rai on Mother’s day to harvest on this Father’s day.

On the occasion of His HM the King’s 82nd birthday, Phuket Governor and President of Phuket Red Cross Association join and help the team of Maikhao SAO wins in the rice harvest competition. The Governor also took part in catching frogs activity.

    Phuket Governor led farmers in Mai Khao to harvest rice in one the few paddy fields on the island.

    Phuket Governor Wichai Praisa-Ngob along with his wife Thaisika joined local farmers in Mai Khao village of Thalang for rice harvest on December 4th. The rice field is located at a learning centre for self sufficiency economy under HM the King’s advocacy. The governor and his wife joined in the harvest competition team and won the games. Later another game of catching frogs was also arranged for fun and to promote unity among villagers. Mai Khao village is one of the rare locations in Phuket which still maintains rice farming and promotes learning for young people about the rice farming.
