A two-day training course for community police volunteers was launched at the Phuket Seafood Restaurant in Phuekt Town on April 22nd 2014. Presided over by Phuket City Deputy Commander – Peerayuth Karachedi, the launch was attended by PPAO Chief Executive Advisor- Samanasak Rattanasaenyanuparp, and PPAO officials Prasit Sinsaowapark, Saroj Angkanapilas, Kamron Pantip and Chusak Sematrakul.
The program to train community police volunteers, which receives a grant of 2,500,000 baht from PPAO, is designed to maximize safety within the local communities. It enlists the help from village volunteers selected by the police, ten of whom will be based at any one station and who will support the police work in the area of safeguarding the community, crime prevention and rescue work.
Commending the PPAO for its financial support, Pol Col Peerayuth highlighted the need for the community to play a bigger role in the police work in the areas of crime and drug prevention and other problems. The support of the police volunteers, he said, would help relieve the heavy workload faced by police officers. He encouraged all participating volunteers to apply themselves fully at the training course.
