Phuket to soon have a new road in City Municipality under government’s ‘dust free road’ project

On July 8th 2010, residents and stakeholders in Phuket city had an opportunity to voice their opinions on the new road construction project. The project costs 24 million baht to construct under the government’s so called ‘ Dust Free’ road project. The meeting was chaired by an official from Rural Roads Office 18 in Krabi, Anupong Jongwang. The public session was also attended by Phuket City Mayor Somjai Suwansupana; and Peeraporn Jirarattanakorn, the Director of Office of Rural Roads Phuket.

Somjai briefly explained that PCM planned to construct a road connecting Chaofah (East), Bangkok & Patipat Roads to ease traffic congestion, especially in rush hours in the city area. The budget for construction had been approved already by the Department of Rural Roads. This project is a 4 lane macadamized or layers of compacted broken stone, tar & asphalt, at a length of 684 meters.

Meanwhile, Anupong stated that the session got local feedback on the development and that the construction would be smooth if they got the right opinions from the related sectors. The main session of the meeting was the presentation about the new road survey and construction procedures presented by the experts from Rural Roads Office.
