Phuket to keep an eye out for gamblers during World Cup 2010

Wichai Praisa-ngob, the Governor of Phuket, assigned local police and related officers to keep an eye out for gambling houses and gamblers in Phuket as the football World Cup would begin next month and end in July. He said that there might be people illegally betting on the football matches during the World Cup, especially in schools and entertainment complexes.

It might be hard for the police to control the football gambling since some gamblers used the internet to bet on each match. Consequently, the police have to investigate some cases by using IT technology. The police stated that if any officers were found involved in illegal gambling cases, they would face strict penalties.

In addition, the governor asked parents to warn their children not to participate in gambling and observe money-using behavior of their children closely.
