Phuket Public Health Office volunteers trained in Dengue Fever prevention

On June 17th 2010, at the Jamjuree Room of Merlin Phuket Hotel, Chaiwat Thepee, the Provincial Administrative Assistant of Phuket, presided over the training called ‘Phuket Public Health Office’s volunteers prevent Phuket from Dengue Fever’ held by the Phuket Public Health Office (PPHO).

The session was held to train people how to prevent themselves from Dengue Fever mainly focusing on the way to destroy the habitat of common house-mosquitoes. Those present were PPHO’s volunteers from Muang, Thalang and Kathu districts.

Dr. Narinrat Pitchayakamin, Head of PPHO, said that during January 1st – June 12th 2010, there was an increasing tendency for Dengue Fever to spread in Phuket. The reported number of the patients was 213 which was the 7th highest number of Dengue patients in the southern region.
