Phuket provides tsunami reconstruction advice to Japan

Phuket provides tsunami reconstruction advice to JapanOn 26th August 2013 at Phuket Provincial Hall, Mizuno Hiromi from The Association of Japan – Phuket led a group of academics and professors from Ryukyu University Japan to receive information on Phuket’s post tsunami reconstruction as a case study should Japan suffer another similar disaster. The university is located in Okinawa Province which is similar to Phuket but has luckily never been affected by a tsunami Khun Punyawee Thongsiriset from Phuket Public Relations Department welcomed the group and provided a lecture summary.

The visiting group was provided with information from government and local organizations on aid which was provided after the 2004 tsunami in relation to rebuilding of houses and also helping people whose careers and employment had been affected. It was also given an insight on how cultural life was affected and whether it had caused any permanent change.
