Phuket plans a census and housing survey on July 1st – August 31st, 2010

On June 18th 2010, at Ladawan conference room in Chalermphrakiat Sondetphrasrinakarindh School, Jirawan Boonperm, the Director of National Statistics Office, presided over a meeting to inform about a census and housing survey. Those present were Yuthachai Aphichaikit – Head of Phuket Statistics Office, Sutthipong Saisakaret – Head of Phuket Labor Office, and statistic officers from other provinces.

Jirawan said that there were about 230 countries around the world working on census and housing surveys. In Thailand, it helped to show the exact number of Thai population and foreigners residing in different parts of the country. The collected data contributed to set up appropriate public services in specific areas.

In Phuket, 250 university students who were studying major degrees in statistics were assigned to collect the data used in census and housing surveys on July 1st-August 31st 2010.
