“Po tong” is one of the most common public transportation for people in Phuket for ages. Though it seems to become less important nowadays, this kind of bus is still undoubtedly part of Phuket’s unique culture, piece of our pride in being Phuketian.
Mr Paiboon Upattising, President of Phuket Provincial Administrative Organisation or “OR Bor Jor” for Thai, realized its importance, came up with the idea to replace PPAO’s decent minibuses with Po Tong. But not in a conventional blue you may have seen them before, they finished in pink, like many other things of our PPAO under the administration of Mr Paiboon.
Forget about its colour for a while, we will move further to the routes and fee.
16 of pink Po Tongs with GPS tracking system that show the current position and speed of busses have been servicing people since September 14th, 2009.
