Phuket opens account gathering money to help people in Japan

PhuketOn March 16th 2011 at the drawing room of Phuket Provincial Hall, Mr.Tri Akaradecha, the Governor of Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization (PPAO), government officers, Mr.Kazushi Miyashita, President of Japanese in Phuket, consuls from various countries, business entrepreneurs, and local administrative organisations from Phuket attended the opening of the donation center to help people affected by the tsunami in Japan.

Tri said “When Phuket was hit by the tsunami in 2004 Japan was the one of the first countries to give assistance to the island. Therefore, the island should respond by donating money and items to help the Japanese who have been affected by the tsunami which hit Japan on March 11th 2011.” The province decided to open the donation center at Phuket Provincial Hall from March 16th -26th 2011. Anyone who would like to help the Japanese can come to the donation center during the mentioned period. Cash is more preferred than other items.

The province also provides another donation option by bank account. The account number is 805-0-41578-3, Krungthai Bank. All money generated will be sent to the Ministry of Interiors before handing it to the Government of Japan.
