An annual training course aimed at empowering local Muslim women was held recently at the Phuket Merlin Hotel in Phuket Town. PPAO Chief Executive – Paiboon Upattising presided over the launch of the course and was accompanied by Chief Advisor – Jeerasak Thortip, Council Members – Theera Jiasakul, Prawat Pimanprom, Nuanchan Samart and Wisansaya Polsin, Division Heads and staff as well as guests.
Organized by PPAO, who is well aware of the importance of Muslim women in society, the course aims to educate them of their duties and responsibilities as well as develop leadership skills so that they can become part of the overall development of the nation. 320 attendees, made up of local Muslim women and staff from related sectors, partook in the training which was taught by Mayura Wongsan and Banthid Wongsan from the World Assembly of Muslim Youth Thailand Office. The course modules included: Personality and Character Development; Responsibilities of Muslim Women towards Society and Family; What to Do When Someone Dies (including pre-death hours and funereal procedures); and Attributes of Good Muslim Women.
Speaking after the event, Mr Paiboon commended the participants for taking part in the course and the role they play as mothers and wives. He believes that the participants will receive more than they sacrifice and urged the women participants to be the pillars of their families.
Khun Paiboon also voiced concerned over drug abuse problems in young people and asked the women to help steer children away from this vice. “Behind the success of every man, there’s a woman. Have faith in God, and other people will have faith in you,” he said. He ended by thanking all concerned.
