Phuket hosts regional security committee meetingAs a member of the local security committee, PPAO Chief Executive – Paiboon Upattising took part in a committee meeting held at the Phuket Panwa Beach Hotel on Wednesday August 6th 2014. The meeting, the second of its kind for the year 2014, was chaired by Vice Admiral and Chief of the Third Area Navy Command – Taratorn Kajitsuwan, and attended by Vice Governor – Jamroen Tipayapongtada, Trang Governor- Satorn Narawisut, Acting Phang Nga Governor – Prayoon Ratanasenee, Director of Civil Affairs (attached to 3rd Navy) – Capt Thammawat Malaisukarin, Deputy Director Phuket Internal Security – Capt Krisada Ratanasupa, and representatives from involved government agencies, local administration offices, and the army. The meeting focused on the operations of the Third Area Navy Command under the five-year National Security Plan (2013- 2019) as well as regional operations under the four-year Regional Security Plan (2014 – 2019). Representatives from various provinces also discussed the security works and challenges within their own area.

Phuket hosts regional security committee meetingCaptain Thammawat reported that since the NCPO took over three months ago, it has put in place reconciliation plans and issued 110 orders and made 119 announcements. All to the satisfaction of the Thai citizens, he added. Now the NCPO is in the process of formulating the second road map involving selection of members for the interim National Legistative Assembly. Chief of the Third Area Navy Command was appointed one of the members. The framework under the five-year National Security Plan stipulated that the host security office whether regional or local draw up its own security operational plans against which success can be measured and assessed. On this regards, Capt Thammawat reported that the Third Area Navy has already drawn up its operational plan which has been effective since July 8, 2014.
