A training program to support the work of counselors in PPAO schools was launched on Saturday August 16 2014 at the Phuket Merlin Hotel. Hosted by PPAO Chief Executive – Paiboon Upattising, who was accompanied by his deputy Chaowalit Na Nakorn, Chief Advisor – Boonserm Suwannarathphoom, Director of Religious and Cultural Education – Ouiporn Sakultan, and other PPAO officials, the launch was attended by PPAO schoolteachers and education administrators.
The training program, led by the Department of Mental Health specialist Dr Prawet Tantipiwattanakul and his team, was attended by 60 counseling teachers from PPAO schools. The aims are to help develop and manage schools’ counseling programs as well as increase the efficiency of counselors. Training modules included: students and pupils guidance, education and career advice, learners’ development, life skills development, counseling activities, primary guidance, among others.
Mr Paiboon strongly believes that the program will benefit counselors as well as students and pupils. According to Mr Paiboon one the most important times for students is when they prepare to enter higher education. It is the counselor’s job, he said, to instill in students a sense of gratitude and self-sufficiency, to find out where their skills lay, and be able to work with and accept others. Mr Paiboon is confident that the course leader and his team will do their best in educating the participants and ended by thanking all involved.
